Over the last 45 years working in office management positions I have refined my proofreading and editing skills - legal briefs/documents, billing statements, newsletters, correspondence, (really all the written things!) - and found I really enjoyed it! For that reason, I am happy to provide quilt pattern tech editing services to quilt pattern designers.
Tech Editing Services include:
I prefer to receive a PDF of your pattern for review, which I will make edits on directly. If you wish to provide your pattern in another format, please let me know and we will work it out.
My turnaround time is three (3) business days, though often less. My rate is $30/hour and I bill in 15-minute increments. If this is your first pattern to be tech edited by me, your first ½-hour is free. I keep a spreadsheet of my time spent and am happy to share it with you.
If you wish to have me review your pattern a second time before your launch, I am happy to do so. The rate is the same and I will send you separate invoices for the initial review and for the second review.
I agree to keep your pattern/intellectual property strictly confidential. I will not share your designs, pattern templates, and logo(s) now or in the future.

Tech Editing Services include:
- Proofreading and editing your quilt pattern for grammar, spelling and typos.
- Checking for formatting consistency (within the pattern and with your other patterns I have edited, if any).
- Reviewing the accuracy of images/diagrams based on your pattern instructions.
- Calculating and verifying the fabric requirements and cutting instructions (quilt math).
- Confirming the piecing instructions “make sense” and are easy to follow.
- Providing feedback, as necessary.
- A second review (after your testers have weighed in) before your pattern launch, if requested.
