Hello, Sewl Mates!
I am thrilled to announce the launch of my latest pattern, Making Butter! This pattern, inspired by the timeless Churn Dash quilt block, combines tradition with a modern twist, creating a quilt that's as classic as it is contemporary.
Pattern Details: Making Butter comes in three sizes - baby (42" square), throw (60" square), and double (82" square). The Churn Dash, a beloved 9-patch quilt block pattern dating back to the early 1800s, serves as the foundation for this design. The name 'Churn Dash' originates from its resemblance to a butter churn -- the outer pieces of the quilt block representing the churn, and the center square resembling the stirring stick, or dash. This pattern pays homage to the simplicity and utility of early pioneer life, infusing it with a touch of the modern.
Did you know? The Churn Dash block has a rich history, known by various names like Monkey Wrench, Shoo Fly, Hole In The Barn Door, or Picture Frame, reflecting the diverse lives of the quilters who created them. Each block tells a unique story, a testament to the creativity of generations past.
Your Creative Journey: With Making Butter, my aim was to create a quilt that exudes depth of color and a clean, contemporary vibe. This project is perfect for a weekend endeavor, allowing you to immerse yourself in the joy of quilting without a long-term commitment. The pattern has been meticulously tested by a team of talented quilters, and their results are truly inspiring.
