In October I’m heading to Florida for a 2-week vacay/quilt retreat with some of my quilty friends. I met all of them through either a class I took or via social media during the pandemic, and finally got to meet them in person in 2023. There’s nothing like a community of quilty friends to sew with, laugh with, bounce ideas off and, of course, share chocolate with.
However, what I learned last year is that taking 2 huge suitcases (1 whole suitcase was quilty stuff!) and a carry-on with me on an airplane is way too cumbersome, so I need to pare it down to 1 suitcase this trip…and I need your ideas!
As we’re staying in an AirB&B with washing facilities, I’m taking only 4 outfits that I’ll “wash and repeat”. That should cut down on personal items I need to take, leaving half a suitcase for quilt projects. But what if I can’t fit all my projects into half a suitcase? Should I take less projects in the hope that I don’t run out during the week? Or mail the projects, leaving space in my suitcase for “souvenirs” on the return trip? Should I cut every project beforehand or just wing it? So many options. I just know that I want the traveling portion to be more manageable and much less stressful.
If you have any suggestions or insights on how I should pack and prepare, I’m all ears (and if you saw me at 14 with a baseball cap on, you’d believe me haha). Email me at jody@sewbeachyquilts.com and thanks in advance!
As I get older, I want life to be more simple and easier…that’s not too much to ask, is it?
