In early February I drove to the tranquil hills of southwestern Pennsylvania for a much-anticipated quilt retreat at Seams Like Home Quilt Retreat and B&B. Surrounded by forever friends, some of whom I've known since childhood and others I've met in the past decade, the retreat promised a week of sewing, laughter, and ... chocolate.
Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape, Seams Like Home offered us not only a cozy abode but also a spacious room where we could immerse ourselves in our craft. With meals taken care of and ample space to sew, cut, iron, and showcase our creations, the stage was set for a memorable quilting experience.
What made this year's retreat particularly special for me was watching four dear friends bring to life my very first quilt pattern, Coral Shadow. Witnessing them piece together their quilt tops, right there at the retreat, filled my heart with joy and gratitude. Their feedback, too, echoing the ease of following my pattern, provided additional validation of my efforts.
I'm thrilled to share glimpses of their Coral Shadow quilt tops [see below images], each stitch a testament to the camaraderie and creativity that thrived during our time together.
With our group of nine, the retreat buzzed with a myriad of projects in various stages of completion. The diversity in creativity was not only inspiring but also invigorating, igniting a renewed passion to create.
We've made it a tradition every year to capture a group picture, immortalizing the shared moments and the fruits of our labor. These snapshots are cherished mementos and documentation, evoking nostalgia and gratitude for the bonds we've forged and the quilts we've made.
For those who share our passion and are gearing up for their own quilting retreat, I invite you to access your free Quilt Retreat Checklist by clicking here. As I reflect on the blissful days spent among my Sewl Mates, I'm reminded once again of the profound truth: quilting friends are indeed good for the soul.
Quilt on,
Jody
