A Quilter's Paradise: My Unforgettable Trip to Florida

A Quilter's Paradise: My Unforgettable Trip to Florida

Hello, Sewl Mates! Last month I had the pleasure of attending a quilting adventure in the sunshine state of Florida, and I am thrilled to share my experiences with you.

Seven wonderful friends and I rented an AirBnB in Palm Coast, Florida, for our quilt retreat. The atmosphere was buzzing with creativity and camaraderie. We laughed, shared stories, and, of course, quilted to our hearts' content. Oh, and ate chocolate!! It was a perfect blend of fun, relaxation, and making memories.

During our retreat, I dove into my upcoming quilt pattern, Making Butter. The creative energy in the air fueled my inspiration, allowing me to make significant progress on this project. In addition, I dedicated time to working on personal quilting projects, each stitch infused with the joy of being surrounded by fellow quilting enthusiasts.

One of the highlights of our trip was a paint party right in the comfort of our charming AirBnB. Unleashing our inner artists, we created vibrant masterpieces, adding a colorful touch to our memorable retreat.

Our adventure extended beyond quilting as we explored the surrounding landscapes of Florida. We visited a local winery, indulging in the flavors of the region, and savored delightful moments at the Golden Lion in Flagler Beach. The coastal charm and warm hospitality left an indelible mark on our hearts.

The trip also provided the opportunity to reconnect with dear friends in Jacksonville. I had the pleasure of personally delivering quilts that I had made for them, and their excitement and gratitude filled the air with warmth and happiness.  Our journey continued with a visit to the Jacksonville Zoo, where we marveled at the giraffes (my favorite) and the beautiful gardens.

Upon my return to Palm Coast, I met up with another quilting group on an additional adventure – a 'Sleep in Your Own Bed Mystery Quilt Retreat' at the local quilt shop, Cut Up and Sew (I, however, slept on a friend's couch as my bed was over 800 miles away!). The sense of community and shared passion for quilting made this experience truly special (and, again, the chocolate!).

As I reflect on this incredible trip, I am filled with gratitude for the new friends I've met, the bonds formed, the laughter shared, and the creative energy that surrounded us. It's moments like these that remind me of the beauty of quilting – not just as a craft, but as a source of joy, friendship, and endless inspiration.

Stay tuned for more updates on Making Butter and other quilting adventures. Until then...Quilt On, Sewl Mates!

Jody
